Background
Torre Unifimm, also known as Torre Unipol, is 127 metres high and is the tallest building in the Emilia-Romagna region. The tower houses the offices of the Unipol financial group and a museum space. The project involved the redevelopment of a former industrial area, with the construction of a complex that also includes a hotel, a fitness centre, a car park and a shopping centre.
Cefla designed and built all the mechanical, electrical and special electrical systems for the entire area.
Challenges
- Integration with the architecture
Designing technological systems that integrate perfectly with the architecture of the tower, preserving the aesthetics and functionality of the spaces. - High energy efficiency standards
Ensuring plant solutions that meet the highest standards of energy efficiency and environmental sustainability.
- Tight deadlines
Completing the work in a short time, coordinating with other construction site activities.
Project Tasks
Cefla provided a turnkey solution that included:
- Mechanical, electrical and special systems designed to ensure high energy efficiency and environmental comfort.
- Automation and control systems for optimal plant management.
- Innovative solutions for reducing energy consumption and emissions.
Implementation
The project was successfully completed in 2011, on schedule and within budget.
Main features of the office tower:
- Use of clear neutral glass that does not distort colour perception;
- Use of protected and adjustable sunshades in the cavity for total light control;
- Use of construction technology that ensures greater fire safety by horizontally sectioning the various floors;
- Use of renewable energy sources;
- Data network system for each individual office and Wi-Fi and GSM coverage in all areas of the tower building, including the basement floors;
- Building facades illumination obtained with a colour-changing LED system.
