Dedicated to farms or those producing agro-industrial wastes in the transition from traditional combustion-based energy sources, the NOVAbio by Cefla solution integrates Bloom Energy's Energy Server™ fuel cell module in a CHP version, and thus produces electrical and thermal energy.

Reaching more than 80 percent efficiency, this technology zeroes emissions of pollutants into the atmosphere (NOx, SOx, CO, particulate matter) and uses 30 percent less biomass input, which allows reducing the digester feed. For the same electrical output, there is a savings in agricultural biomass feed to the digester, varying between a 30 and 50 percent.

Fuel cells provide clean, reliable, affordable energy to enable farms to increase the efficiency and sustainability of their energy production.
This technology provides low-carbon energy with a view to a net-zero emission tomorrow. Fuel cells convert the chemical energy of fuels into electricity and heat, without combustion occurring, as happens in traditional cogeneration, reducing CO2 emissions almost completely.
NOVAbio by Cefla is a modular solution that starts with a power rating of 250 kW and multiples, which can be easily customized in case more power is needed, and is easy to install thanks to "plug-and-play" logic.

How fuel cells work

Highly efficient systems, fuel cells allow a choice of sources: natural gas, biomethane, biogas, hydrogen blend, and 100% hydrogen. This technology generates electricity without combustion, and reduces carbon emissions compared to the grid, almost eliminating harmful particles.

Versatility, efficiency and sustainability

In addition to the various primary sources to choose from to power fuel cells, this technology is highly efficient and can be easily remodeled to meet any increase in one's energy demand. For the same power output, fuel cell technology exceeds the efficiency of an endothermic source by 25 percent.
Easy to install and with minimal maintenance requirements, fuel cells are extremely resilient and provide high continuity of service. Their environmental impact is also negligible: very low pollutant emissions, zero water consumption during normal operation, and with its small footprint, the choice of installation site is wider. It also generates very low noise due to the absence of moving mechanical elements.
