Background

Tecnoparco Valbasento has been operating since 1990 as an energy and environmental services provider in the industrial hub of Pisticci (MT). The company distributes utilities to industrial and technology parks in an environmentally friendly manner. The revamping of the power plant is a key factor in supporting the energy efficiency of the entire local production sector.

With this project, Cefla once again demonstrates its ongoing commitment to the development and implementation of technologically advanced solutions dedicated to energy efficiency.


Challenges

  • Dismantling and reconstruction 
    The project involved dismantling the entire existing plant and integrating some pre-existing structures into the new layout.
  • Energy optimisation
    Increasing the power and efficiency of the plant without expanding its footprint.
  • Emissions control
    Ensuring compliance with environmental regulations through advanced abatement technologies.

Project Tasks

Cefla carried out:

  • Dismantling of the previous plant
  • Installation of 3 Wartsila 16V34 SG engines, each with a power output of 7.8 MW
  • Installation of 3 superheated steam generators powered by exhaust fumes
  • Recovery of the existing plant manifold
  • Installation of BALTIMORE evaporative towers
  • SCR system for emission abatement
  • Complete design by Cefla

Implementation

The project has consolidated the energy efficiency and sustainability of the Tecnoparco Valbasento industrial hub, guaranteeing electricity and steam to numerous companies in the district.
The flexibility and power of the new plant allow for optimised management of energy resources, in full compliance with environmental objectives.
