Visa Cash App Racing Bulls is proud to announce the official opening of its Fuel Cell cogeneration plant in Faenza, marking a milestone in sustainable innovation for the motorsport sector. This pioneering project, developed in collaboration with official supplier CEFLA and in line with Red Bull, Formula 1 and FIA sustainability goals , represents a significant investment in advanced technology that combines sporting excellence, environmental responsibility and long-term economic value.
Located within the 14,500-square-meter "Racing Bulls Green Energy Park" complex, adjacent to the headquarters, the new facility integrates a state-of-the-art photovoltaic system and a NOVA SOLUTION by Cefla Solid Oxide Fuel Cell (SOFC) plant powered directly by certified biomethane from local partners. In addition to providing reliable and self-sufficient energy to the Faenzasite ,this synergy also supports the development of local expertise and partnerships, in line with the ESG Agenda of the Sustainable Cities and Communities project.
Advanced Fuel Cell technology enables an average annual production of 4.6 GWh of carbon-neutral electricity. Efficiency is further enhanced by heat recovery, which fully covers the site's heating needs, while starting the plant without using water helps to preserve a vital resource and reduce environmental impact. The result is a drastic reduction in emissions, elimination of noise pollution, and setting a new energy efficiency standard for the industry.
Facility Management & HSE Director of Visa Cash App Racing Bulls, Enrico Fastelli, commented, "I am excited to highlight our commitment to minimizing the environmental impact of our operations and achieving true energy autonomy. Through strong partnerships with local suppliers, we not only reduce emissions, but also promote innovation and growth within our community. By maximizing synergies with the local area, we foster the development of skills and collaborations that benefit all parties involved."
Gianmaria Balducci, Cefla President says, "In 1932 Cefla was born in Imola with a precise vocation: engineering excellence at the service of progress. Today, exactly one year after the beginning of our partnership with Visa Cash App Racing Bulls, we celebrate a milestone that projects that same vision into the future of sustainability. We inaugurate a NOVA Solution by Cefla facility that is already fully operational and in operation. It is a source of great pride for us to see how our history, made of great works is enriched today by a new chapter where Italian technological innovation guarantees energy self-sufficiency to such a prestigious partner."
Mario Gargano, Sales Director BL Energy, Cefla, said, "The Fuel Cell plant in Faenza is a concrete demonstration of what can come from the meeting of technological innovation and environmental responsibility. The plant is unique on the market, with 550 kW of Fuel Cells powered directly by biomethane produced at the nearby Caviro plant, with zero emissions to the environment. This plant not only enables innovative technology, but also represents an excellent example of collaboration between companies at the local level. We at Cefla are proud to actively participate in such projects."
The opening of the Fuel Cell plant at VCARB headquarters marks the beginning of a new era of sustainability for the motorsport industry. Combining innovative technology, local partnerships, and a clear commitment to environmental and economic sustainability, Visa Cash App Racing Bulls sets a virtuous example for the entire industry and demonstrates the strength of shared values and vision.
